About This Project

The spread of the Covid-19 pandemic came with travel bans and uncertainty. As the world strives to maintain balance while managing the spread of the disease, borders have been reopened and businesses most affected by travel bans have been revived. The China Visa Application Center chose to reemerge with a newly retrofitted office.

The main drive for commercial retrofitting is to rebrand a workspace by improving the work environment for staff, while creating a welcoming ambiance for visitors. Being the China visa application center, portraying Chinese culture and values in a unique way that engages with guests was of paramount importance.

The premium lounge of this office space was designed to amplify hospitality. The interplay of light along each wall, the shimmer of the smooth wooden floor, carefully curated mandarin decor pieces, as well as the finely finished leather sofas, coalesce to radiate warmth within this space, while guests wait to be attended to.

As more and more people tend to spend the better part of their lives at work, workspaces should be designed to ensure maximum human comfort. Booths which define the consulting counters have been designed in a way that allows workers to focus on daily tasks, while encouraging interaction with colleagues. Other spaces such as back offices, and interview rooms were designed and finished to meet the Client’s aspirations to portray the Chinese values of work and travel, in the best possible way.
