Springing up just further down the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, lies YOLO, a tourist destination which offers a timeless experience. Situated in Lagos, Nigeria; a unique and fascinating city renowned for its relentless hustle & bustle; getting away from the busy city center to this unique destination is a much needed respite.
In YOLO, prepare to be rejuvenated, in a place that provokes self-reflection, while enjoying the music of the tidal waves. By consciously incorporating water into the design, this beach house was conceived to weave tranquil, yet relaxing elements into breath-taking ambiance. It features a bean-shaped kids’ pool and a larger adults’ pool that masterfully combines an infinity pool, jacuzzi, wading pool, and a circular fish pond. Floating stones which permeate through the center of the large pool allows users to literally ‘walk through water’ to access either the deck or patio areas beyond.
Delicate curves and subtle lines define the theme of this beach house, which draws its inspiration from the intricacies of the African lifestyle and cultural expressions. The design combines different facets of leisure, such as relaxation, sporting, dining and living activities, into a harmonious whole. On the Ground level, This facility comprises an outdoor basketball court, a concierge to receive guests; with panoramic views of the outdoors, a state of the art wellness center for rejuvenation and a tropical-themed restaurant all flanking a beautiful central garden, which gently nudges to the pool areas beyond.
Rising up onto the upper level, a bridge connects the Gym Area, via a large terraced area to all six guest chalets on the opposite end. The chalets have been designed to prioritize unrestricted views towards the ocean, while maximizing natural light. Each chalet is a two-level unit that is fitted with a glass facade overlooking the beachfront, as well as a skylight that funnels in natural light, while framing the natural palette of the sky above. The lower level of each chalet comprises a double- volume living area, study nook, guest toilet and a dual function kitchen and dining area.
A spiral staircase ascends from the living area to the more private top-level which houses the en-suite lodging facilities. Even from this level, views to the beachfront have been prioritized; as the oceans can still be seen dancing along the coastline, just beyond the large glass facade. Each chalet has also been equipped with a private balcony, of which two have dedicated infinity pools, which frame the relaxing onlooking views. The designers have also blurred the distinction between indoor and outdoor living. For instance, in the public areas on the ground level, glass has been utilized to open up the restaurant and conference facilities to the surrounding garden and pool areas. Outdoor activities are endless featuring a fire-pit, overlooking the bar, Grill, patio and pool areas, all against the backdrop of the sights and sounds along the beachfront.
YOLO packs a soul cleansing and reinvigorating experience into each visit with its scenic views and calming ambience, making it a top choice destination for anyone looking for a getaway that allows them to reconnect with their core.
